Have you ever seen a snake or spider and wondered “what specific species is that”? Well, wonder no longer.

Critterpedia is an upcoming app that will make identifying insects easier than ever. Using Artificial Intelligence, you can take a picture of a spider or snake, and it will tell you what species it is and some general information about the animal.

Murray Scarce, Co-CEO of Critterpedia, joins John Stanley to speak on exactly how the app works and when we could be able to access it.

Critterpedia: The snakes and spiders identification app that could save lives.

Critterpedia, being jointly developed by the CSIRO, will help people identify Australian wildlife, with a focus on our venomous friends, starting with snakes and spiders….

Murray and Nic Scarce are now based on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

But in 2014, after moving from Sydney to Wollongong, they found there were a significant number of venomous animals in their new home city.

The couple came up with the idea for Critterpedia while Nic’s mother was visiting from Britain…..
